Tri-City Outreach Support Group
www.efsp.unitedway.org/EFSP/wc.dll?EFSP~fundedorg~738400
This Mission stretches a little beyond the Greater Maryland/DC region to St. Stephen, South Carolina in rural Berkley County, a largely low-income region just 45 miles from Charleston. In 1992 Wesley Freedom traveled to this area for the first time to give assistance to elderly and low-income families who were adversely affected by Hurricane Hugo in 1984. The connections we made with the children of St. Stephen and with the Rev. Jeremiah Washington (V.I.M. volunteer and minister of The Believers' Temple) led us to further reach out by participating in "Christmas of Joy", sponsored by C.H.I.L.D. (Community Hands in Love and Development), an organization started to serve the low-income people of the St. Stephen's Area.

Bread for the World

In an Offering of Letters church members write personal letters to their representatives on behalf of hungry people, expressing concern about their situation and asking for specific policy changes that will help bring about change. Here at Wesley Freedom, we run a workshop in October, educating all who attend on Bread for the World's initiatives, providing letter writing guides and materials, and encouraging everyone to take a few minutes to write a letter from their heart.
