At baptism, we become members of Christ’s body. For many, this happens when they are very young. In Confirmation, young people take ownership of their own faith and commitment to the church. Although Confirmation is not a sacrament in the United Methodist Church, it is a vital marker along the spiritual journey of a disciple of Christ.

Confirmation is a public commitment to be a part of the faith community in which our parents promised to raise us at our Baptism. Confirmands who have not yet been baptized will be invited to do so during a worship service during the year, at Discovery, or at the Confirmation Ceremony itself.

 

The Confirmation Program at Wesley Freedom runs for the entire school year in place of traditional Sunday School classes for 8th Graders. For High Schoolers not yet confirmed, a small group meets before HSM Youth Group. Retreats and service events are integral parts of the Confirmation year.

    The annual event that brings together Confirmation, Middle School, and High School Sunday School classes is a cozy experience with light fare, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate! Youth and adults from YM have the chance to get to know each other a bit better, discuss relevant topics, and have fun!
